Mimico Baptist Library was opened in May 2000 as a fully functional lending library to its congregation and their friends. The librarian (Sharon Kettlewell) is a long time Lakeshore resident, who loves to organize and read as well as write her own autobiographies. 
　

Mimico Baptist Library has a large inventory of many books, audio cassettes, CD’s and videos, ranging from adult interests to children’s items. Of course, being a church library, we cater especially to the Christian way of life. All the articles on the shelves have a Christian based theme, whether it is fiction or non-fiction.  
　

To date we have over 1,300 items on our library shelves with a user base of about 48 people. Last year (2002) approximately 491 items were borrowed from the library shelves.  

We have books on Prayer, Family, Evangelism, History, Archeology, Holidays, Church Organization and many other subjects and topics. We have books from both the classic authors as well as many contemporary authors. There is also many of the well known Christian Fiction Authors like Jack Cavanaugh, Jeanette Oke, Beverly Lewis, Gilbert and Lynn Morris, Lawana Blackwell, Frank Peretti and Lori Wick. The popular “Left Behind” Series is also available. 

In our children’s section we have many picture books to incite your child’s mind and many “Veggie Tale” Videos to educate and entertain them at the same time. 

In our music department we have many different hymn & ‘praise and worship’ cassettes and CD’s including “Gaither Homecomings” and “International Favourites”. For the youth there are many contemporary artists like, Michael W. Smith, Steven Curtis Chapman, Avalon and Point of Grace. 

Borrowing is done on an honour system. You sign the card at the back of the book with the date, your name and your Phone Number. This is important for the librarian. These cards are put into the musically decorated box on the desk. Pens and pencils are also found in this box for filling out the cards. 

The items are borrowed for a 3-week period. Items are returned to the “Blue” book bin ONLY. The ‘yellow’ box is used for people who are donating items. Please follow these rules to avoid a mix up. Thank you.
