Mimico Refugee Response

mrrA project initiated by Mimico Baptist Church with our community partners through our sponsorship agreement holder (CBOQ).

Recognizes:

  • the desperate need for refugee sponsors,
  •  the compassionate desire of the people of Mimico and area to respond to the refugee crisis

Who we are:

  • We are a team of partners from the Mimico community, working together to sponsor refugees from the Syrian crisis.

Our Goal:

  • To welcome as many Syrian refugees to our community as we can and to help them settle into a new life in Canada.
  • To raise a minimum of $30,000 towards the sponsorship of a Syrian refugee family. The number of refugees we can sponsor is dependent on the amount of money raised.

How it works:

  • Mimico Baptist Church is a partner on this team and a member of the CBOQ (Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec). CBOQ is a Sponsorship Agreement Holder with Citizenship and Immigration Canada. For more detail see: baptist.ca/refugees/
  • Our team is responsible for a one year commitment. Sponsor covers the start up costs and six months support for refugee(s) while Citizenship and Immigration Canada covers the other six months.
