Jesus established a community of faith, hope and love called the church. The diverse peoples of this community share a common new identity. This new identity is centred in their personal experience in an event. The event is the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This event has been the turning point of history and the lives of billions of people. It is called the "gospel" or good news. Through Jesus it is possible to be brought into a new level of life that includes being in a right and vital relationship to God. (If you would like to know more, click Good News)
Jesus has called this church to be the salt and light of the world. Salt adds flavour, preserves and cleans. Light shows us the way and helps us to see. The church is an agent of God in the world.
So, what is mission? Mission is being a part of what God is doing in the world. We ride the waves as they ripple out from the good news event and wash through time and space to reach the peoples and places of the world. We engage in this mission of faith, hope and love in many ways including the following.Partnerships: including community churches, Toronto Baptist Churches, Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec, Canadian Baptist Ministries, Liebenzell Missions, Cooperative Baptists USA, Community agencies and groups.
